With its year-round sunshine and ample recreational opportunities, it’s no surprise Hillsborough County is home to a dynamic, active population of residents age 50 and older. We provide social activities and health and wellness programs through our seven senior centers, as well as transportation options, meal delivery, and caregiving services that help older adults of all physical abilities get the most out of life.
The Ruskin Senior Center is open with no membership fees to Hillsborough County adults age 50 and older. Meal services are available for those 60 and older who are registered participants. Call or see a staff member for information on registering.
We have a variety or resources available for our senior population from more than 25 senior, dining & activity, and adult day care centers to transportation and financial assistance for low-income households needing help with an energy crisis.
We offer several volunteer opportunities
Our Senior Center has many volunteer and internship opportunities. Our volunteer partners include individual residents, corporations, and local colleges and universities.
Requirements vary depending on the volunteer experience you seek.
We need qualified volunteers to assist with a range of programs and services, including: •Case Management •Customer Care and Client Intake •Nutrition Services •Quality and Compliance •Senior Centers and Dining Centers
Be aware that we may require a criminal background check with the State of Florida for certain volunteer positions and can use the results to determine your acceptance and placement ◦We will keep the results confidential
You must sign a confidentiality statement and a Model Release that gives us permission to use photographs/videos of you including in advertising
There is no monetary compensation for volunteering or if we use photographs/video of you in advertising or trade
