The mission of Samaritan Services is to provide health and safety to insure independent living through free transportation, respite care, and meals on wheels for our Sun City Center residents.Samaritan Services, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity, provides many support services needed by residents of Sun City Center and Kings Point. We will transport ambulatory residents to medical appointments between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Brandon, Bradenton, Tampa and points in between with advance notice of 10 to 14 days. SCC Ride provides transportation for in-town appointments and shopping, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Samaritan Services also coordinates the Meals on Wheels program, and provides Alzheimer’s respite care. Our receptionists are the “voice” and “face” of Samaritan Services. Our men and women volunteer for two shifts a day, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. We utilize ten receptionists a week plus substitutes. The receptionists answer questions about our organization and schedule “Out of Town” rides and “Meals on Wheels” deliveries for Sun City Center and Kings Point residents. Dispatchers volunteer for one shift a day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (if you have a partner we can split the day into two shifts). They receive calls from Sun City Center and Kings Point residents seeking transportation within Sun City Center. The dispatcher then calls drivers in cars “A” and “B” to pick-up and deliver ambulatory clients to their destination. When clients are ready to go home they call the dispatcher to send another car. Two to three drivers a day volunteer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (can be two shifts from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.) with Samaritan Services vehicles. Drivers are dispatched to pick-up and deliver clients to locations with-in Sun City Center and along Hwy 674 from Sun Point Shopping Center to Kings Crossing Shopping Plaza. Up to six drivers a day volunteer to drive clients with Samaritan Services vehicles to Tampa, Brandon, Bradenton and points in between for medically related appointments.
