TelePals

In the video below, Deputy Sheriff Jeff Marry and Sam Sudman discuss a situation that calls for TelePals volunteers.

TelePals, a division of Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, provides ongoing telephone reassurance to individuals who may be feeling lonely or isolated, or who would simply like a new friend to chat with over the phone once a week or so. TelePals volunteers offer social connection and wellness checks to help individuals maintain mental and physical health.

The TelePals program serves individuals living in Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco at no charge. Regular calls tell someone: “You have a friend who cares.” Volunteers ask considerate questions, communicate cheerfully about interests, check on well-being, and refer concerns to expert resources.

All volunteers are screened and receive online training.

If you enjoy, value and love our seniors, if you love listening to their great stories or heartfelt advice, if you love engaging in conversation and knowing that you are bringing happiness to someone simply by listening and caring on the phone - this may be the volunteer opportunity you’ve been waiting for!
