360 Eats Volunteer Opportunities

Overall Description: Get GEARED UP to fight food insecurity in our community with 360 Eats! 360 Eats is a partner nonprofit based in Tampa, which reshapes the food system with an innovative “360-degree” solution. The programs include a mobile food rescue service, a mobile gourmet soup kitchen, compost, and community food garden. Open Positions:
1. Food Rescue
- Time Commitment: Multiple shifts available.
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Receiving and loading rescued Food into the Food Rescue van.
- Weighing the food.
- Packing Food into the storage facility.
- Training: N/A
- Qualifications:
- Be at least 55 years old.
- May be asked to be on their feet for two hours at a time.
- Although volunteers can opt-out of jobs that they do not feel physically capable of performing, some lifting may be required.
2.Food Service- The Kitchen 24 in Oldsmar
- Time Commitment: Multiple shifts available.
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Packaging meals at The Kitchen 24 in Oldsmar.
- Handing meals out to the community(Safety Harbor at The Mattie Williams Neighborhood Center every Thursday in one location. Other locations to be determined.
- Qualifications:
- Be at least 55 years old.
- May be asked to be on their feet for two hours at a time.
- Although volunteers can opt out of jobs that they do not feel physically capable of doing, some lifting may be required.
- Training: N/A
3.Meal Prep / Clean Up- The Kitchen 24 in Oldsmar
- Time Commitment: Multiple shifts available.
- Number of needed volunteers: The more, the merrier.
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Cook and prepare the week’s meals.
- Move items to their appropriate places.
- Qualifications:
- Be at least 55 years old.
- May be asked to be on their feet for two hours at a time.
- Training: If you are a professional chef, this is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your skills and represent your restaurant! Also, a perfect opportunity for those new to cooking to learn a thing or two. The best part about it is the satisfaction of knowing the nutritious gourmet meals you made will go directly to those in need.
4.Special Events:
- Time Commitment: Flexible
- Number of needed volunteers: The more, the merrier.
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Event Set-Up.
- Event Break Down.
- Working at the booth.
- Serve Food and engage with people
- Qualifications:
- Be at least 55 years old.
- May be asked to be on their feet for two hours at a time.
- Enjoy engaging with people.
- Good communication skills.
- Training: We are spreading the word of what we are doing and educating people about food waste.
5 .Composting / Gardening:
- Time Commitment: Multiple shifts available.
- Number of needed volunteers: The more, the merrier.
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Haul food scraps on a weekend day from a local farmer’s market.
- Arrange for compost distribution.
- Ensure a clean and odor-free compost site, with a diligent eye on rodent prevention.
- Qualifications:
- Be at least 55 years old.
- Gardening experience is a plus but not required.
- Training: The gardens are not yet established, and plans are underway to make that a reality!
