Volunteer tutors are needed to assist kindergarten and 1st-grade students with reading and reading comprehension at Ruskin Elementary School!
Volunteer tutors provide one-on-one reading instruction within a classroom setting using a proven curriculum. Each student is given an Individual Lesson Plan created by our PCAT teachers. Tutors use those Lesson Plans as they work with our students
PCAT Literacy Ministries is a non-profit after-school literacy program. Our students are recommended to our programs by their teachers because they are at risk of school failure. Without additional assistance, they might not be promoted to the next grade. Children who are not reading properly by third grade, experience poor grades and tend to drop out of High School, a situation that is magnified by poverty. Please consider joining our after-school literacy programs at Ruskin Elementary School.
If you believe that all children can learn to read and succeed in school, please consider joining our after-school literacy programs at Ruskin Elementary School. All volunteers receive a two-hour training class and are required to have a background screening. PCAT covers all costs.
Schedule: Mondays through Thursdays, either from 3:0 – 4:00 or 4:00 – 5:00. All we ask is two hours a week of your time!
