The mission of SOS is to be help seniors regain and maintain a healthy and independent lifestyle to improve their overall quality of life in and outside of their home.
- Open Opportunities:
- Front Desk Volunteers
- Time Commitment: Shifts are flexible.
- Training/ Requirements: Computer literacy and phone etiquette.
- Responsibilities and Duties:
- Greet visitors, tutors and learners when they enter the center.
- Ensure visitors get the help they require in a timely manner.
- Answer the phone. Take and record messages as needed.
- Monitor the volume level in the center and report challenging situations to staff.
- Help staff with small administrative tasks, when requested
- Qualifications:
- Be at least 55 years old.
- Must have a driver license.
- Be willing to adhere to all program policies, including a level II background check.
- Very good written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of computers, adaptive technologies, and software an asset, but not required
- Mobile Pantry Volunteer
- Time Commitment: 2 times per week minimum.
- Training: If you have weightlifting restrictions, you’ll never be asked to lift heavy objects. Volunteers work almost as a cross between team and family with everyone “pitching in.” Within three to five weeks, you’ll have a handle on the entire operation and be able to do

- Manage food pantry in general operations.
- Welcome the recipients
- Pack boxes of groceries
- Distribute the food
- Sort groceries
- Stock shelves, the refrigerator, and the freezer
- Qualifications: No specific qualifications necessary.
- Front Desk Volunteers
