Reddick’s Rays of Sunshine are a group of volunteers working to help Reddick Elementary School’s students, teachers, and staff.

Reddick Elementary School, located at 325 W. Lake Drive in Wimauma, is one of the largest elementary schools in Hillsborough County with more than 700 children in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5. The school is a “Title I” school, meaning that the majority of the students (over 90%) come from poor families – a large percentage of the students have parents who don’t speak English well enough to help with homework. School is open as follows:

Monday                  7:40 AM to 12:55 PM
Tuesday-Friday     7:40 AM to 1:55 PM

Reddick’s Rays of Sunshine provide reading, math and science tutoring assistance, help with the library (media center) and assist with a variety of “back-office” activities such as making photocopies of documents for classroom use, collating handouts, etc. Other Rays help the school identify and submit requests for grants. There are other opportunities to help with a broader array of activities as they arise.

If you have time or services to donate, we can use your help! Prior experience is not necessary – just enthusiasm! There is always a special need for bilingual volunteers or even conversational level Spanish, but speaking Spanish is not necessary. For more information on the volunteer jobs needed, see the list of jobs below.  You can either access the job descriptions with the buttons or simply scroll down and examine them all.
