Volunteer Opportunities at Samaritan Services
Receptionist
Our receptionists are the “voice” and “face” of Samaritan Services. Our men and women volunteer for two shifts a day, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. We utilize ten receptionists a week plus substitutes. The receptionists answer questions about our organization and schedule “Out of Town” rides and “Meals on Wheels” deliveries for Sun City Center and Kings Point residents.
If you’d like to volunteer as a Receptionist, scroll down to the bottom of the page, fill out, and submit the form.
Dispatcher
Dispatchers volunteer for one shift a day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (if you have a partner we can split the day into two shifts). They receive calls from Sun City Center and Kings Point residents seeking transportation within Sun City Center. The dispatcher then calls drivers in cars “A” and “B” to pick-up and deliver ambulatory clients to their destination.
When clients are ready to go home they call the dispatcher to send another car. Number of rides vary from 20 to 40 per day.
Drivers-Out of Town
Up to six drivers a day volunteer to drive clients with Samaritan Services vehicles to Tampa, Brandon, Bradenton and points in between for medically related appointments.
Trips are preplanned ten days in advance when possible.
All drivers must have a valid U.S. driver’s license with 0 points.
All drivers are covered by a Samaritan Services insurance policy.
Drivers-SCC Ride
Two to three drivers a day volunteer from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (can be two shifts from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.) with Samaritan Services vehicles.
Drivers are dispatched to pick up and deliver clients to locations within Sun City Center and along Hwy 674 from Sun Point Shopping Center to Kings Crossing Shopping Plaza.
All drivers must have a valid U.S. driver’s license with 0 points.
All drivers are covered by a Samaritan Services insurance policy.
