John Tragon, or “Papi” as the students at B.T. Washington Elementary like to call him, has been a foster grandparent for more than 15 years. His favorite thing about volunteering is teaching the children to read and about respect.

So how does he do it? Well according to Papi, it takes “teaching them about the fundamentals of reading and the importance of reading well, why they need good manners, making good decisions and setting a good example, and of course, lots of lollipops!”
